Moving in? Don’t wait to paint!
New homeowners often struggle with the decision to paint before or after they move in. There usually isn’t much time between closing and moving in, but most contractors agree that the best time to paint the interior of your new home is before you move in!

Painting feels good. Adding a new coat of paint makes any home – whether brand new or previously occupied —feel cleaner, fresher, and much more inviting.
Painting empty rooms saves time and expense. The job will take a lot longer if there are items to be moved and protected. This is by far the best time to paint closets and utility rooms without having to unload them first! Painting empty rooms takes less time so it costs less than painting occupied rooms. Once the major patching, trim work, ceilings and wall coats are on, changing the wall color at a later date can be a snap–even if you do it yourself.
Do what you can now. If time constraints or budgets are stopping you from painting the whole house–try to at least get all the patching, ceilings and closets done. The trim and walls are accessible by moving the furniture to the center of the room. If all the prep is done they can still be done easily at a later date, one or two rooms at a time.
