What do you know about
Deck Maintenance?

SOME THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT MICHIGANS CONTRACTOR LAWS:

If you use an unlicensed contractor you could be liable for their unpaid debts relating to your property. Suppliers and workers can lien your property for monies owed to them; even if you’ve already paid the “contractor”.

If an uninsured worker is injured on your property you are liable and can be sued for their medical costs. If they break something or destroy your property and cannot or will not pay you must bare the burden.  Even if a ladder falls through your neighbors window!

LOOK FOR IN A PAINTING COMPANY

Speed Pro Painting has been in business since 1986.  Tara Aldrich, co-owner and on-the-job supervisor has over 25 years experience in the painting field.  She insists on the highest quality of workmanship and customer service from our crews. Her goal is to be your painting company…for life not just one job.

With this in mind we would like to talk to you about “trunk slammers”.

Trunk slammer is a slang term used for a person who is not really part of the industry. They put a few inexpensive tools of the trade into their trunk (because they don’t have a work van), and off they go…

In this tough economy, many people have lost their jobs and are trying to survive any way they can until they can get back on their feet.  Many of them choose to become “painters” because they have painted their own homes and believe it’s something anyone can do for a quick buck. The reality is they have minimal experience, little skill and the wrong equipment. They have no office, liability insurance or license to practice.  These guys are very appealing because with no overhead, they can offer prices well below the norm.  We all want to save money!  But, are you really saving money?  When you hire a non-professional you may be opening yourself up to risks you hadn’t considered.  Are you willing to put your lifelong investment into the hands of someone who doesn’t have insurance or experience?  Will you be able to reach them in the event they need to return for touchups?  Who will ultimately pay if they cause damage to your property, do a poor job or don’t finish at all?

Hiring a non-professional may seem like you’re helping your budget and theirs, but you’re really putting yourself at risk as well as forcing other reputable, established, hardworking small businesses one step closer to the unemployment line.
